soybean news, northern soy marketing

Northern Soy Marketing (NSM) is seeking proposals for FY27 projects that assist in its mission to increase the profitability of soybean producers in the U.S.

A farmer-led organization with a board formed by Minnesota and South Dakota soybean checkoff leaders, NSM invests grower checkoff funds to conduct research on soy quality in soybeans, especially those destined for export via Pacific Northwest ports.

“These proposals are fundamental to the work we do to promote the quality, consistent and reliable soybeans grown in the northern U.S.,” NSM Executive Director Gary Williams said. “We are looking for robust proposals that further our goal of providing a more accurate picture of soy quality.”

Proposals are being accepted in five priority areas:

  • International trade missions/events to promote northern-grown soy and NSM priority areas
  • Reverse trade missions for current or prospective customers
  • Promotion of northern-grown soy exported from Pacific Northwest ports
  • Promotion of northern-grown soy exported from the Ports of Duluth-Superior and Milwaukee
  • Comprehensive communications plan to support NSM’s mission (budget limit of $90,000)

Proposals are due Feb. 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. CT. For RFP-specific questions, contact Gary Williams at gwilliams@agmgmtsolutions.com or (507) 949-7700.
