The Northern Soy Marketing group has announced that Katelyn Engquist has been elevated to serve as the organization’s Market Development Project Manager.
“Katelyn has been heavily involved with NSM for several years, helping to oversee communications and digital outreach,” NSM Chair Patrick O’Leary said. “As we look toward 2022 and beyond, we felt this was the right time to bring her skills full time into the NSM fold.”
Engquist assumes the role after serving as Communications Specialist for NSM and Ag Management Solutions (AMS), which oversees NSM’s daily operations. Engquist has also worked with other AMS clients, including the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, Minnesota Soybean Growers Association and Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance. Engquist grew up on a dairy and crop farm near Chokio, Minnesota. She is a North Dakota State University graduate with bachelor’s degrees in Public Relations & Advertising and Agricultural Communication and an Animal Science minor. She lives in West Fargo, North Dakota, with her husband and daughter.
“I look forward to serving and building profitability of soybean farmers in this role,” Engquist said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to support the vision of the NSM board and promote the quality of northern-grown soybeans.”
Northern Soy Marketing is represented by Minnesota, Nebraska (which joined in fall 2021), North Dakota and South Dakota. NSM invests soybean checkoff funds to conduct research on soybean quality and Critical Amino Acid Value (CAAV) levels in northern-grown soybeans and sponsors outreach to buyers around the world. The soybean checkoff boards of the founding three states of NSM developed the CAAV to measure essential amino acids and evaluate soybean quality.
“The states that comprise NSM have done an excellent job promoting the quality of our soybeans in overseas markets,” AMS CEO Tom Slunecka said. “NSM is planning even further promotion of our high-quality soybeans to both our domestic and international audiences. We’re excited for what the future holds with Katelyn onboard to help lead our mission.”
